This commissioned picture showcases the beginning of a new life as represented by the verse and the pair of love birds. Most of the botanicals are from South Africa. This included the birds which are flowers from the crotalaria plant, also known as rattlebox. Other botanicals from S. Africa included afia, eucalyptus flowers, leonotis (orange and white) and athonosia trifurcata / erica. Local bocanicals included queen anne’s lace, maidenhair fern and miscellaneous grasses. This piece was sealed between a layer of mylar and glass. A layer of 99% UV acrylic covers the matting.
